IS ONLINE CLASS EFFECTIVE ?

What do you think is an online class? The online class is a learning system conducted on the internet. Since the pandemic started in March 2020, all physical classes are converted to virtual classes. The government had to close down educational institutions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 (Tang, 2020). But, do you think that online class is effective? I personally disagree with the effectiveness of the online class.

The first reason I disagree about the effectiveness of online classes is many students have internet problems. Without the convenience of the internet, e-learning is impossible. Many of the students came from less fortunate family and some live in the interior that has no internet access. They are usually left out behind because of less opportunity to join online classes (Jude, 2021). So, we can see the effectiveness of online classes here is very low.

Other than that, I disagree with the effectiveness of online classes because the students are easy to distract. For example, the phone’s notification from apps such as TikTok and Instagram. It will bother the students’ focus during the class and missed important points highlighted by the lecturer (Harlander, 2019). The effectiveness of online classes is very low compare to physical classes.

In other perspectives, online classes give students flexible time (Karaman, 2011). But, do you think that students can manage their own time? Students usually have procrastinations habit which is very bad for their studies (Kim & Seo, 2015, #). Moreover, time management is very difficult to follow since the students fail to plan their time. Online classes are less effective due to their failure to manage time.

In a nutshell, even the students have flexible time during online classes, they have to face a few problems that decrease the effectiveness of their study such as internet problems and being easy to distract. Once again, I want to stand with my opinion that online class is not effective for most of the students.
